Would this be possible for both high-frequency (HF) and ultrahigh-frequency (UHF) technologies?

Francois,

With a passive UHF RFID system, it is very difficult to accurately measure read range. As you get further from a reader antenna, the signal grows weaker. A tag near the edge of the read field might receive sufficient energy to be interrogated sometimes, but not at other times. Additionally, radio waves can bounce off floors, walls and objects, distorting the read field. With HF RFID, the field is more defined—a tag in the read field can be interrogated, whereas a tag just outside the field will not be read.
