At this stage, it is impossible to use active RFID transponders on flyable parts. Passive tags can be utilized, but even they are not supposed to be interrogated in flight. It might be possible one day to use active RFID on flyable parts, but my guess, given the number of parts and the small size of some components, is that most will still be tagged with passive tags. It would only be large components, such as aircraft engines, that would have active tags.
