RFID Journal Staff asked 6 years ago I recently bought a reader with insufficient instruction manuals to set up and configure the device. Are there any basic set-up procedures?

The internal software controls for configuring a reader are proprietary to each manufacturer. I would suggest you try visiting the website of the company that made the device you bought, and find out if they have any instructions. Some companies have posted YouTube videos explaining how to use their equipment. If that's not the case for your device, you'll need to contact the company directly.
