To answer your question, I reached out to Sanjiv Dua, the president of RFID4U, a leading training, consulting and systems integration company. Sanjiv says that if a reader is connected to the Internet via an Ethernet or wireless connection, it can be accessed as any standard network device and then be configured and supported remotely. "The questioner can simply upload the saved profile of the reader," he says. "The FX7500 also supports reader management via Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)." Sanjiv adds that middleware from Microsoft, GlobeRanger and other companies support remote management and monitoring.
