Passive low-frequency (LF), high-frequency (HF) and ultrahigh-frequency (UHF) tags can read many tags within a single second. Typically, you would not tell a reader to interrogate a given number of tags within a set span of time. You would simply instruct the reader to report on all tags within the read field. It would be difficult to say whether a reader could read 10, 50 or 100 tags within one second, as that would depend on many factors. One is the system's frequency; a higher frequency means more data can be transmitted in the same amount of time. Another factor is the amount of information stored on the tag. Reading a 96-bit serial number would take far less time than reading 8 kilobytes of data off a tag, for example.
