Judy,

UHF RFID tags are proliferating in the retail market, with retailer mandates and inventory-management systems that are bringing visibility to supply chains, so this market has become well-established. Several other markets are following on its heels: the pharmaceutical industry is adopting RFID systems to track drugs (initially, single-dose medications are the most common), airlines are using RFID to manage baggage handling, and vehicular toll collection is also using passive UHF RFID.

The food industry may be one of the primary sectors for future adoption, however, as this massive industry is facing increasing complexity in supply chains, as well as demands for sustainability and accountability, while the technology has become more affordable as RFID tag costs have been dropping. Inflation, chip shortages and supply chain problems, of course, are making that more challenging.
