We seek an RFID-based solution for the maintenance of our vehicles. What would be the best technology?

Luc,
An answer would be difficult to provide without a lot more information. If the vehicles were moving through some well-defined checkpoints and did not need to be located over a large area, passive UHF RFID might work. If you needed to track vehicles over a large open area, however, you would probably need to deploy an active RFID solution of some kind, or passive UHF with GPS (assuming the cars were parked outside).
I would recommend you attend next week's RFID Journal LIVE! conference and exhibition, taking place in Phoenix, Ariz., and you should bring photos and videos of your maintenance process if you do. That would help solution providers to recommend the best solution to meet your needs. You would also be able to evaluate the top systems integrators who could deploy a solutions for your particular application.
