To answer your question, I reached out to Patrick King, the principal at Technologies ROI, which has developed a wide variety of tags for harsh environments. Pat says his firm utilizes ovens, ranging from simple ones up to blast ovens used for creating ceramic tiles. After exposing an RFID tag to high heat for the required period of time, he employs Voyantic Tagsurance testing equipment to measure the tag's RF performance, and to compare it with a control tag (the same type of tag, not exposed to high heat).
