Is there an easy way to identify a tag inside an object?

One way to detect a tag is simply to communicate with it using a reader that operates at the same frequency and employs the same protocol. If you do not know what frequency and protocol are used and the tag is not visible, then the tag can still be seen on an x-ray of the object in question.
