Would this be difficult to accomplish?

Actually, it would be fairly easy to do. A sheet of Mylar—a brand name of biaxially-oriented polyethylene terephthalate (BoPET) polyester film made from stretched polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and known for its high tensile strength—would block the electromagnetic waves of a reader antenna, or you could simply use wire mesh or a sheet of aluminum.
