I know it was a hot discussion back in 2008, and that RFID Journal wrote a number of articles about the topic. Does any recent data exist on the subject?

Jim,

AIM has developed protocols with George Tech Research Institute for testing RFID's effect on medical devices (see Team to Develop Standards for Testing RFID in Health Care and Avoiding Interference: GTRI Is Developing Protocols for Testing Effects of RFID Systems on Medical Devices). As the result of this work, MET Labs offers testing for RFID products' impact on medical devices, based on the protocols developed (see Program Launched to Test Medical Devices for Susceptibility to RFID). The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has been monitoring the issue, but has issued no guidelines to date (see this site).
