RFID Journal Staff asked 9 years ago Is it possible, within a library, for a visitor to initialize a connection between a handheld interrogator and a mobile phone via Bluetooth or wireless, and then connect to the Internet? If so, I'd like a diagram and some sample pseudo-code.

I am unaware of any libraries that enable patrons to connect their smartphones to RFID readers, but Tertium Technology makes small handheld high-frequency (HF) and ultrahigh-frequency (UHF) readers that can connect to a cell phone and enable a person to read tags in or on books and other media. In addition, Technology Solutions (UK) Ltd. manufactures several handhelds that can connect to phones via a Bluetooth connection, and there are other consumer-friendly devices available as well.
I cannot provide sample code, however. You would need to contact reader manufacturers and ask them for software development kits (SDK), which would likely contain sample code.
