Would we be able to read the tags on every computer, or do you think there would be problems in doing so?
It is unlikely that you would be able to read the tags on all 810 laptops stacked on a pallet. The metal within the laptops would almost certainly prevent the reader's passive UHF RFID signal from reaching the tags of the laptops at the pallet's center. It might be possible to find locations on the boxes where tags could be read, but you would need to conduct some trial-and-error tests.
One way to address the issue might be to read the tags on the laptops as they are stacked. Workers could, for example, stack the first row of computers on the pallet, read their tags, stack the next row, read those tags and keep repeating this process until the pallet was built. After the pallet was shrink-wrapped, a single pallet tag could then be applied and all of the laptops' serial numbers could be associated with that pallet tag.
