What options are available to me?
There are a couple of options. Transcends developed Rifidi, an open-source RFID software platform. TigeRFID offers an active RFID open-source system. TagCentric's open-source files are still available for download, though I do not think the software has been updated for several years. And Fosstrak was an open-source platform created by the Auto-ID Labs to support passive UHF RFID deployments, but I am unsure whether or not the software has been updated in the past few years.
