Are there any tags that can be used to keep tabs on hard drives and other memory devices?

Yes. There are several very small passive ultrahigh-frequency (UHF) transponders that are quite thin and can be affixed to hard drives, memory chips and other storage devices. The right one would likely depend on the amount of space available for tagging, the read distance required and how durable the tag needs to be. Omni-ID, The Tag Factory, William Frick & Co. and other companies offer small on-metal tags you could use for this purpose.

At this year's RFID Journal LIVE! conference and exhibition, taking place on Apr. 15-17 in San Diego, Calif., a company called RTEC will show off a very small on-metal tag that can sense moisture. This would allow you, for example, to be alerted if a hard drive inadvertently got wet.
