Has there been any event where the technology was used to secure records—and if so, how?

I am unsure what you mean by "event" or "secure." However, we have written about elections in which RFID was utilized to secure ballots (see Costa Rica Counts on RFID to Monitor Ballots, Canadian Investment Group RFID-Enables Shareholder Elections and Alameda County Gives RFID Ballot-Tracking a Vote of Approval).

We have also written about a law firm that is tagging and tracking every sheet of paper for its most sensitive files, in order to ensure that it knows where every page is located, and that nothing is ever misplaced (see Law Firm Uses RFID to Track Every Page of Confidential Documents). This is an example of securing document with RFID, but it is not event-related.

I suggest you resubmit your question with more details regarding what exactly you are trying to do with RFID, and I can then provide examples of similar applications, if we have covered any.
