If so, how would a tag be placed inside a wedding band, and has RFID Journal published any stories about it?

Ravi,

We have written about radio frequency identification being embedded in watches (see Authentication Solution Embeds Invisible EPC Gen 2 Tags Into Watch Crystals) and placed inside pearls (see Pearl Company Creates Authentication Solution). Embedding an RFID tag inside a gold or silver wedding band, however, would be very difficult. Metal reflects radio waves, so a tag embedded inside a ring would not work unless you figured out a way to make the ring itself act as an antenna. You would also need a way to protect the RFID transponder so that it could survive the ring-making process. I would not say this is impossible, but I have not heard of anyone working on something like this.
