RFID Journal Staff asked 7 years ago I work at a car dealership and would like to track our consultants inside our facility (which measures 2,000 square feet) and outside the business (in an area spanning approximately 5 acres). Can you suggest a technology-based solution?

You would need to use an active RFID solution and give your staff badges, each containing a battery-powered RFID transponder. A system operating at 433 MHz generally performs best outdoors, where rain can affect systems operating at 915 MHz. GAO RFID, Guard RFID Solutions and others offer such solutions. It might be expensive to cover 5 acres, however, as you would need to install readers to cover that entire area. You might consider only covering the areas where your consultants spend most of their time.
