That would likely depend on whether the reader antenna was inside or outside the trunk. You could place a reader antenna in the truck and interrogate all of the items with no problem. However, you would not be able to read passive tags with the trunk closed if the antenna was outside, as the radio waves would bounce off the vehicle's metal body.
