I have an RFID card for our employee parking lot, and I wonder if there is a product that can read the ID number on that card and duplicate it, then assign it to other RFID cards so other employees can be given a card as well. Is this possible?

Steven,

That's an interesting application, but not quite what RFID is typically designed for. Every RFID tag or card comes encoded with a unique ID number that cannot be duplicated. So each employee would have their own individual card, which could be linked to that employee, or not, depending on how you used it. As you can imagine, there are multiple benefits to having unique (rather than duplicated) cards. If an employee loses the card or leaves the company, that specific card can be removed from the system so it can't be fraudulently used. Individual cards also pffer the opportunity to track specific employees, which you may or may not want to pursue due to privacy concerns.
