Ask The ExpertsCan a Single RFID Tag Write More Than One Piece of Data?
RFID Journal Staff asked 7 years ago

For example, could a tag write data A at station 1, data B at station 2 and data C at station 3, so that a single reader would then read data A, B and C? Is this something RFID technology can handle? If can, how would it work? Also, are any RFID seminars or exhibitions planned in Indonesia or Asia for 2017?

Randi,

Yes, this is possible with some passive ultrahigh-frequency (UHF) RFID tags. The tags must have user memory, and you must use a reader that can write to user memory. It would have a single serial number. You could write information at station A to user memory block 1, for instance, then data at station B to user memory block 2, and so on. A reader at the end of the line would be able to interrogate the serial number and data in each memory block.

As far as I am aware, there are no RFID events being held in Indonesia. However, I would suggest that you attend RFID Journal LIVE! 2017, our annual conference and exhibition to be held in Phoenix, Ariz., on May 9-11. Visit the event's website for more details.
