RFID Journal Staff asked 6 years ago I know that I can kill UHF EPC Gen 2 tags using a kill command. Is that command range (that is, the maximum distance between the tag and the reader for a successful kill operation) the same as the read range? Thanks

The distance from which you can kill a tag might be shorter than its read range. This is because the tag requires more energy to execute commands than to simply respond with its ID number. You might find that writing to the tag requires the reader to be a bit closer than when you are just reading tags for the same reason.
