RFID Journal Staff asked 8 years ago I'm writing to ask about successful cases of RFID being deployed in the shoe section of a department store. I have no doubt that the technology can help here, but I'd like to know if somebody has already gained experience implementing a solution to keep track of items on the sales floor and in the back room. We have a mess daily since all shoes must be handed to customers on the sales floor so they can try them on, and then be returned to the back room, leaving no time for employees to put them where they should be.

There are not a lot of folks using RFID on footwear yet. That's because companies are more focused on clothing, and there are some questions about whether to tag each box or each shoe. But here are a few articles discussing successful footwear deployments:
