Ask The ExpertsAre Different Vendors’ Tags Interchangeable?
RFID Journal Staff asked 7 years ago

One of my companies employs passive Tag-it high-frequency (HF) RFID tags that are used in a plastic box which is placed on an instrument as a reagent. If I buy the same tags from a different vendor with the same specifications and use them on the instrument, will they still work?

Saurabh,

Tag-it is a Texas Instruments RFID tag based on the ISO 15693 air-interface protocol standard that also supports ISO 18000-3. You would need to find out which standard your readers support. Most likely, it is ISO 15693. I would purchase a small amount of tags based on this standard and confirm that your reader can read them. If so, you can then buy more tags.
