RFID in Health Care 2012 Report

At RFID Journal's eighth conference and exhibition for the health-care industry, attendees learned how radio frequency identification is helping medical facilities cut costs and improve patient outcomes. View the presentations from the event.
Sep 24, 2012—A growing number of hospitals are achieving benefits from implementing radio frequency identification solutions to monitor assets and patients, collect information automatically and reduce the incidence of medical errors. Those attending the RFID in Health Care 2012 conference and exhibition—held on Sept. 6 at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel & Towers—gained valuable insights into the proper RFID technologies to employ for various applications, and also discovered how to avoid common pitfalls.

Visitors to this year's event heard health-care providers and early adopters share real-world case studies revealing the business benefits of RFID. Presenters discussed how hospitals can realize greater efficiencies out of existing resources, interface with existing hospital-information systems, decrease the incidence of lost or stolen equipment, facilitate change management, drive user adoption, develop business standards, reduce errors by tracking medical devices, increase patient monitoring and safety, improve workflow and more. Attendees learned how to boost asset-utilization rates with real-time location systems (RTLS), and had the opportunity to network with the leading technology companies and view their latest solutions.
