RFID in Energy 2011 Report

Approximately 100 attendees gathered at RFID Journal's inaugural conference and exhibition for the energy industry, to learn how they could benefit from deploying radio frequency identification technologies. View the presentations from the event.
Oct 17, 2011—Many utilities, chemical companies, and gas and oil firms are currently benefitting from employing radio frequency identification technologies within their operations (see RFID Powers Energy-Sector Efficiencies). At RFID in Energy 2011, RFID Journal's inaugural conference and exhibition for this sector—held on Sept. 20, 2011, in Houston, Texas—attendees heard end users sharing how they utilize RFID to track natural gas consumption and business assets, enforce regulatory standards, service and support oil-field assets across supply chains, increase employee monitoring and safety, and more.

RFID in Energy was co-hosted by the Oil & Gas RFID Solution Group Consortium, a consortium comprising petroleum, petrochemical and services companies, as well as RFID vendors and universities, that drives industry adoption, education and standards development regarding RFID-based systems within the petroleum and petrochemical market space. The event's speaker sessions covered a variety of application areas, such as laydown yards, production facilities, service centers, oil rigs, refineries and pipelines, with the presenters focusing on end-user case studies and the benefits that RFID can provide, as well as the challenges that must be overcome to achieve such advantages. Attendees also had the opportunity to meet leading technology companies, and to view their latest solutions.
