Jun 18, 2007—RFID Journal's fifth annual executive conference, RFID Journal LIVE! 2007, was held May 30 to April 4 at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando, Fla. This followed the success of RFID Journal LIVE! 2006, held in Chicago in April of last year; RFID Journal LIVE! Europe 2006, which took place last October in Amsterdam; and November's RFID Journal LIVE! Canada 2006, in Toronto.

The conference attracted more than 2,500 professionals from large and midsize retailers, distributors and manufacturers—including a record number of end users and potential end users of radio frequency identification technology. In addition, numerous consulting firms, systems integrators and RFID vendors also attended.

Rear Admiral Mark D. Harnitchek, U.S. Department of Defense
Breakout sessions covered a wide variety of topics in the retail/CPG, health-care/pharmaceutical, manufacturing, defense/aerospace and transportation/logistics sectors. PowerPoint slides and videos from these sessions are available for download on page 3.

The first day of the conference included eight preconference seminars (RFID University, RFID in Packaging, RFID in the Cold Chain, RFID Essentials, RFID Channel Seminar, RFID Investors' Forum, RFID Legal & Public Policy, and RFID Academic Convocation). Each preconference provided in-depth RFID information on specific aspects of radio frequency identification technology. Attendees were invited to choose one preconference to attend prior to the main-conference program.

In addition, CompTIA's RFID+ certification preparation course provided intensive, one-day, instructor-led training using state-of-the-art RFID equipment. Participants were given the opportunity to take the organization's RFID+ Certification Exam, and also received a CD-ROM with RFID+ practice tests. Those unable to take the exam during the conference were provided a voucher allowing them to take it at a later date.
