RFID in Retail and Apparel 2015 Report

RFID Journal recently held a conference intended to help retailers and brand owners learn how radio frequency identification technology could benefit them. View the presentations from the event.

Radio frequency identification is being deployed at numerous stores and warehouses worldwide to boost inventory accuracy, improve store execution and on-shelf availability, enable omnichannel retailing, reduce shrinkage, enhance the customer experience and provide big data to reveal new insights (see Retailers Embrace RFID). In recent years, a number of major retailers, including Macy's, Kohl's and Target, have begun rolling out the technology chain-wide (see Macy's Expands RFID and Beacon Deployments, Kohl's Rolls Out RFID for Select Product Categories at Its Stores and Target Announces Nationwide RFID Rollout).

With this in mind, RFID Journal recently held an exclusive, invitation-only conference and exhibition designed to help retailers and brand owners learn how they could benefit from implementing an RFID solution. At RFID in Retail and Apparel, held on Sept. 17, 2015, and gold-sponsored by Intel and Mojix, retailers and suppliers already using RFID presented case studies to help attendees determine the best approach for their needs, learn best practices from early adopters, find the right technology partners and move forward with adoption.

RFID in Retail and Apparel attracted one hundred attendees who met with exhibitors and networked with other guests. The conference sessions covered the four foundational use cases for RFID in retail—inventory accuracy, out-of-stocks, product location and loss detection—and also covered second-order use cases, including enhancing the customer experience, cycle-counting strategies, conversion and loss prevention.

Recordings of the event's speaker presentations are now available in RFID Journal's online video library. Links to videos of the conference's sessions are provided on the following pages, along with PDFs of the slides used in those presentations (not all speakers have granted permission to have their presentations and/or slides archived).
