Organizations worldwide are employing radio frequency identification technologies across a variety of industries, to lower costs, increase efficiencies and improve customer service. At RFID Journal LIVE! 2013RFID Journal's 11th annual conference and exhibition, held from Apr. 30 to May 2, at the Orange County Convention Center, in Orlando, Fla.—visitors attended presentations from leading end users regarding new applications for RFID. The sessions explained how to overcome implementation challenges, achieve business benefits, and track and manage assets.

The turnout at LIVE! 2013 showed a marked growth in the RFID industry, as there were approximately 5 percent more attendees than at last year's show. This year's LIVE! event, cornerstone-sponsored by Motorola, featured four industry-specific conference tracks (Defense/Aviation, Health Care/Pharmaceutical, Manufacturing and Retail/Apparel) and four how-to tracks (RFID Deployment Strategies, Supply Chain/Logistics, Technology and Infrastructure, and Visibility and Traceability). In addition, the conference included nine preconference seminars, four post-conference workshops, five solution-provider sessions, and one co-located event, IEEE RFID 2013 (see At IEEE RFID Conference, Passive Tags Talk With Each Other, Contact Lenses Help Control Diabetes).

During LIVE!, visitors had the opportunity to receive Fast-Track RFID Deployment Training and RFID Applications Developers Training. They were also able to view the entrants in the Coolest Demo Contest, as well as the finalists for this year's RFID Journal Awards.

Recordings of the event's speaker presentations are now available in RFID Journal's online video library. Links to videos of the conference's keynotes, general sessions, and pre- and post-conference seminars and workshops are provided on the following pages, along with PDFs of the slides used in those presentations (not all speakers have granted permission to have their presentations and/or slides archived). Videos and PDFs from the main conference-track presentations and solutions-provider sessions, as well as the RFID Journal Awards and the Coolest Demo Contest, will be spotlighted in Part 2 of this report, to be featured in two weeks.
