Performance vs. low cost RFID tags It is my personal opinion that both "performance and cost" are an essential and distinguishing attribute required for a successful RFID tag. When reading these tags at higher speeds (540 FPM to 600 FPM) the tag must perform well to prevent product from going to the no-read area cutting down double handling, additional walking, product damage, and other issues. However the cost of the tag must be reasonable (3 to 5 cents ea.) since millions of tags (many times the same tags will be used in both low and high speed systems) will be used weekly by mayor and minor product suppliers and vendors. Tags that read well at lower speeds may not work at all when used in high speed systems.
