Each week, RFID Journal posts a case study—an in-depth story that describes both the business benefits an end user organization achieved from adopting RFID and the technology employed to achieve it. These articles have been available only to our readers who have premium memberships to RFID Journal. But now, we are making some of our older case studies available to anyone visiting our site. Our goal in doing this is two-fold: We know our members find these case studies informative, so making this content available increases the value of RFID Journal. We also hope that once visitors read these helpful articles, they'll want access to the more recent case studies, as well as our best practices articles and how-to guides. (Premium members also get discounts for all our events, training products and reports.)

We feel confident that those readers will recognize the value of our case studies. While most sites that report on RFID technology rely on free press releases and vendor-created content, our reporters interview the end users to learn why they decided to adopt RFID, how they deployed the technology, what challenges they faced and what benefits they achieved.

While these case studies are a few years old, many are still relevant. RFID Frees Up Patient Beds explains how St. Vincent's Hospital deployed a patient-tracking and real-time clinical information system that improved the quality of care, increased revenues and delivered a return on invest.

RFID Brings Order to a Chaotic Office reveals how Florida State University uses passive tags to track files, and how the university recouped its investment in less than a year.

RFID Contains Solution to Chinese Shipping Problems shows how China International Marine Containers uses RFID to track containers moving from its factory to the storage yard.

More than 60 case studies—about large and small companies in North America, Europe, Asia and Africa—are now available at no charge. They cover a variety of industries—including automotive, health care, logistics, manufacturing, mining and retailing—and a plethora of applications. To view all the case studies now available for free, go to our Free Case Studies archive.

It's my hope that these stories will stimulate readers to explore new RFID applications—and become premium members!
