Where Can I Find Glass Microscope Slides With Embedded RFID Tags?

Do you know of any companies that offer slides with transponders already embedded?

Stephanie,

I am unaware of any company that makes microscope slides with embedded RFID transponders, or even transponders that are designed to be affixed to such slides. That being said, it would not be difficult to create tags that would work for this application. You would need to approach a firm such as Avery Dennison, Smartrac, Invengo or SML, or perhaps some other sophisticated RFID inlay provider. However, it might not be cost-effective if you were only buying the tags in small volumes. If any of our readers know of any businesses that offer such tags, they are invited to provide information below.

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to Stephanie et al. Mr. Roberti. With all due respect the big boys so to speak are not in the business of helping folks like Stephanie whose objective is I perceive the domain of prototype developers and those who are "converters" which is a term common to the packaging and labeling industry. Small but creative and technically competent botiques such as my company tapABILITIES for example help folks like Stephaine make emerging use cases happen. We (I) function as design-builders of new or existing inanimate things transformed into interactive wireless network communication devices by means of Near Field Communication (NFC.) I lean towards the prototype side of making things happen but also have capabilities for small run production in several fields of application; building interactive glass slides being one of them. Translated: I'm really adept at sticking NFC electronic stickers (tags) into or onto stuff I modify and develop any WWW software services which may be applicable. Inspired by the many emerging use cases, I called a local scientific supply here in Milwaukee County this morning (Feb 22nd, 2019) and they tell me they can provide me with 26mm x 76mm glass slides at an pretax over the counter cost of $5.95 for seventy-two pieces per package. They also carry the same size with a convex well asking $8.95 for twelve pieces. I have a vinyl cutting machine in my shop which would be used to cut and then adhere clear adehesive covers for the stickers to create an interactive slide assembly. The result would be a SmartSlide remaining transparent but for the bare metal IC and antenna which each NFC tag is comprised of. Are we talking about a transformed slide that may need to be provisioned in a state of sterility? It just so happens making that happen is available to me right up the block. Lots to learn and talk about. I'd have fun helping Stephanie et al. with this use case. The aforementioned criteria and more are what I would begin to discuss further with and for Stephanie and others interested in transforming their use cases to utilize NFC. I'd suggest finding me on Facebook so we can use messaging to privately exchange contact information to continue discussing creative and technical means to make the NFC magic happen and again, thank you Mr. Roberti. -- Clinton Gallagher
