The co-located technical conference will feature a special Smart Cities Mega-Challenge.

NEW YORK, Dec. 1, 2016—RFID Journal announced today that IEEE RFID 2017 will be featured as a co-located event to be held in conjunction with next year's RFID Journal LIVE! conference and exhibition, an event focused on radio frequency identification (RFID) and its many business applications. LIVE! 2017 and IEEE RFID will be held on May 9-11 at Arizona's Phoenix Convention Center.

The IEEE's annual conference on RFID is the premier event for exchanging all RFID-related technical research. Attendees will include a mix of international practitioners and researchers from industry and academia who will have the unique opportunity to share, discuss and witness research results in all areas of RFID technologies and their applications. Those in attendance will get face-to-face time with the top researchers and scientists working on radio frequency identification.

This year's IEEE RFID event will feature a special Smart Cities Educational Mega-Challenge. Teams will be rated on how they plan and evaluate a solution that incorporates RFID technology and systems. After choosing a city and a problem it faces that can be addressed by a smart-city solution, they will then propose an implementation that includes the use of RFID. Projects will be rated on how they plan and evaluate a solution. For more information, visit http://2017.ieee-rfid.org/ieee-rfid-mega-challenge-smart-cities/.

"RFID Journal LIVE! has hosted the IEEE RFID event for the past 10 years," said Mark Roberti, RFID Journal's founder and editor. "The partnership has been fruitful for the RFID industry, and this year's event, with its high-quality technical papers and Smart Cities Educational Mega-Challenge, will be better than ever."

RFID Journal LIVE! 2017 will also feature four industry-specific and four technical conference tracks, as well as eight in-depth preconference seminars and workshops, four post-conference seminars, the RFID Journal Awards, fast-track RFID training provided by RFID4U and RFID Professional Institute certification. The event will offer exhibits and demonstrations conducted by the industry's leading technology firms. For more information, visit www.rfidjournalevents.com/live.
