Heffernan says that elected representatives are interested in RFID as a tool for authentication, including the authentication of pharmaceutical drugs, the identity of people through their passport and so on. Part of Heffernan’s efforts are to educate members of Congress about the technology’s ability to secure the food chain, the drug supply chain and cargo, by improving track and trace.
