New Privacy Resource for RFID
By Mark Roberti
Since a company supplying radio frequency identification tags to Benetton announced that company's plans to tag one of its clothing lines, the issue of privacy has dogged the RFID industry. Over the past year, concerns have been raised over the use of RFID in passports, credit cards and other applications.
Much of the information put out by opponents of RFID and picked up by journalists unfamiliar with the technology is factually incorrect. RFID Journal has teamed up with
Symbol Technologies to create a repository of accurate information and a resource for those considering deploying RFID technology. We will post information on this area of the RFID Journal site, sponsored by Symbol, to help retailers and others address privacy concerns.
We welcome your input.
