Asking the right question
by PAMELA RUHLING, posted 05/25/2004
It would be interesting as a non recipient of the questions asked, to know exactly what they were.
I am still finding a reluctance to commit for commercial reasons because of the dropout in delivered usable chips, still around 12%. I am of the personal opinion that companies are continuing to look at RFID tactically for positioning and future proofing their capabilities, and not yet sold on the strategic deliverable. As a consultant, I have to show benefit to clients, and a very recent attempt to use RFID on a £50m diagnostics exercise failed because of the 12% dropout and cost/ recovery values calculated, a very disappointing result.
