Results Not Surprising

I am surprised by the tone of this article. It reads as though the findings were at odds with expectations. Of course manufacturers have larger RFID budgets!! Take a look at the technology at tell me where the burden is. The burden falls on the manufacturer who has to tag the products. Recent studies have told us that over 80% of implementation costs will be due to tag prices (Forrester Research). And to top it off, manufacturers are the group that gets the burden of on-going costs more than any other group. Every group in the supply chain has implementation costs, but the manufacturer has the on-going tagging cost digging into any margins they might receive and any cycle time gains. Is there any wonder why 72% are spending less than $500K and 50% have low expectations of near term ROI? Message threads
