Why you do not use the phase method?
It is possible to measure the distance by evaluating the phase of the tag response subcarrier. Transmission of 2 different reader frequencies (separated view MHz) during interrogation can deliver the distance information. Existing US frequency band is sufficient. Problematic may be the phase response of the tag backscatterer?
