The Internet of Things is and Idea

Kevin, thanks for the interesting post. Expanding the capability of network technology should remain holistic and open to more sentient things. This is definitely one of the most exciting potential innovations coming down the road.

However, I don't necessarily agree that our 'economy, society, and survival aren't based on ideas or information.' Our economy and society are becoming more and more about ideas and information; and in fact things (and how we use them) are consequences of ideas. I found Dan Pink's book "A Whole New Mind" very insightful in this regard. Look forward to reading more of your thoughts.
