rfid by satellite

We are currently looking for a partner to perform a test bed with on some new technology that could bring the cost of having a mobile asset tracking system very affordable.

Could/Are RFID tags be “placed” “undetectable” in the plastic stocks of weapons and then be read or tract by satellites or UAV?

Can‘t help but wonder, about 2 weeks after we saw that AQ guy shooting an American M-249 he was “found” and killed.
We have “lost “ many weapons in Iraq and no one seems to care?

We’ve also lately, been VARY good at finding hidden weapons cache, along with IDing the terrorist.

Can‘t help but wonder.
