Can a Tag Be Read Underneath Thick Plastic?

Posted By RFID Journal, 02.08.2012 Post a Comment!

I received an RFID toll tag from the Texas toll authority, with instructions to mount it to the inside of my car's windshield. However, I ride a motorcycle. Can I place the tag under fairly thick opaque plastic, so that it would be weatherproof, and still have it read?

Yes, I believe that would not be a problem. The only issue would be if there were metal between the tag and the reader. Otherwise, it should work fine.
