Positive TV Coverage of RFID
The Canadian Broadcasting Corp. ran a nice segment about Radient360 and IDBlue.
I often bemoan negative press about radio frequency identification, so I was pleased when a reader sent me a link to a positive piece that the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. ran regarding a company called Radient360 and its mobile field-inspection solution, which leverages IDBlue's cool, new pen-like ultrahigh-frequency (UHF) RFID interrogator. You can view the segment here, but you'll need to skip ahead to 50:50 in the video clip.
This kind of news is very helpful to the RFID industry. First, it highlights the fact that the solution is being used by a local shipping company, so other shipping firms might realize they, too, can benefit from deploying the same solution. It showcases IDBlue's Bluetooth stylus reader, which lets a business in any industry add RFID functionality to virtually any smartphone, tablet or other mobile-computing device. And finally, it broadens awareness of RFID, so that people will know the technology has matured greatly over the past few years, and can find out how it is delivering value.
There are still a lot of negative pieces about RFID being produced by the mainstream media. But we are now starting to see more positive coverage of the technology, which can only be a good thing.
