RFID Highlighted in Latin America
Two events in the region will showcase successful deployments.
I'm not sure if it's a sign that more companies in Latin America are adopting radio frequency identification technologies, but I've been invited to speak at two upcoming events in that region. On Oct. 28, I will speak at RFID Symposio, in Sao Paulo, Brazil, about why now is the right time to adopt RFID technologies.
I've also been invited by GS1 Argentina to present at its annual conference, Jornadas 2009, to be held on Wednesday, Nov.18, at the Four Seasons Buenos Aires Hotel. At that conference, I will update attendees on global RFID adoption.
In addition to my presentation, there will be several case studies at Jornadas 2009. EastPack, a kiwi exporter from New Zealand, will discuss how it has dramatically reduced its expenses by employing EPC RFID technologies in its production, warehousing and shipping processes (see New Zealand Kiwifruit Processor Finds ROI).
Familia Sancela, a South American manufacturer of disposable diapers, baby wipes, toilet paper, napkins and other personal hygiene products, will explain how it is utilizing RFID at its plants in Colombia to provide 100 percent accuracy in inventory as the products are packed, stored and loaded for shipping (see At Familia Sancela, RFID Reduces Shrinkage).
Indexport, S.A., the manufacturer and distributor of Hush Puppies footwear, will discuss how it uses RFID to accurately and precisely manage its real-time stock at its Spanish distribution center in Castellón (see On the Trail of Hush Puppies).
