In July 2010, Walmart announced that it was re-launching its RFID efforts, and that it would focus on tracking individual items using complex stock-keeping units (SKUs). The first products that it said it would start with were men's jeans and basics (see Wal-Mart Relaunches EPC RFID Effort, Starting With Men's Jeans and Basics). Since then, I have heard that the retailer has expanded into other areas as well, including some automotive parts, but the company has made no official announcements about such an expansion.
