Where Can I Find a Fixed HF Reader for Use Outdoors?

Posted By RFID Journal, 09.13.2012
Do you know of any quality suppliers of high-frequency RFID interrogators for outdoor use—able to operate within temperatures up to 50 degrees, as well as waterproof and dustproof—with a read range of 2 centimeters to 4 centimeters (0.8 inch to 1.6 inches)? We need a device that can read ISO HF cards and/or Mifare Cards, and we are looking for a unit that has no external antenna.

Robin,

I am unaware of any fixed HF readers designed for outdoor operation. Usually, fixed readers are encased in ruggedized enclosures for use outdoors. Such enclosures are manufactured by NEMA Enclosures, Adalet, Hammond Manufacturing and other companies. If any of our readers know of other devices that might meet Robin's needs, without the enclosure, please post a note below.
