What Mechanism Can Be Used to Track a Psychiatric Patient Who Has Fallen Down?
We need to find a way to trigger an alert. How can we accomplish this?
Several companies manufacture RFID transponders that have an accelerometer inside them, so when a patient falls, that movement is detected and an alert can be issued to staff members. Here is a related article that we have published: New System Reports Patient Falls.
Sonitor Technologies and Precyse Technologies offer active RFID tags containing an acceleromater that can automatically alert employees if a patient falls. In addition, Aeroscout offers a tag with a call button, which patients can push in order to alert someone if they fall.
I hope that helps.
