Can RFID Transponders Be Embedded in Paper Labels?

Is this a feasible application of radio frequency identification technology?

The short answer is yes. Avery Dennison, Sato America, Zebra Technologies and other companies manufacture RFID label printers that can print a bar code label with an embedded RFID transponder and link the bar code and serial number in the transponder. Other companies offer RFID transponders embedded in paper labels.
