Can RFID Tags Be Read Through Metal Roofs?

Posted By RFID Journal, 03.26.2009
Is there an RFID tag available that can be interrogated through metal roofing systems, and that would work for 20 years?

To my knowledge, there is no such system. Radio waves bounce off metal, though there might be a way to accomplish what you hope to achieve without having to read through the metal. You'd have to describe what you are trying to identify, however, and why. Perhaps I can then suggest an alternative approach.
