How Should We Go About Offering a Student-Tracking System?
I need your advice regarding what RFID system to use for an upcoming project. We are opening a new business to use radio frequency identification in schools to track children as they enter and leave a school building, by automatically sending an SMS text message to the parents' mobile phones. I hope you can help me with this, and that you can provide me with some suppliers of RFID readers and tags as well.
There is a company called ScholarChip that sells a student-tracking system (see ScholarChip Mobile App to Allow School to Track Students On the Go). You could approach this company and find out if they are interested in having you resell their application.
Guard RFID Solutions also offers a school-security system to identify if an emergency occurs, and to help locate students and staff members during such a situation. The solution, known as the SafeGuard K-12 Safety System, is designed mainly to monitor students in schools, and includes software, as well as active RFID tags, exciters and readers. But GuardRFID has also developed a mobile tracking system to help monitor the movements of passengers onto and off of buses. The solution can be used by schools, in conjunction with SafeGuard, to offer assurance to schools and parents regarding which children enter and exit which vehicle, as well as when and where this occurs (see GuardRFID Launches School Security System). You could contact GuardRFID about reselling its solution.
If you would prefer to build your own system from scratch, I recommend that you read my response to a reader who submitted a similar question to our Ask the Experts forum (see How Can a School Monitor Children in Buses and Classrooms?).
