Are Readers, Scanners and Printers Considered Commodity Hardware Devices?
Has the market yet reached that level of growth?
At this point, I would have to say no, it hasn't. Most readers are designed to perform well in a variety of applications or for specific applications, but I don't think the market is large enough yet to commoditize them. That will likely happen eventually, however.
